UPDATE Feb. 19, 3:45 pm ET: An Amazon rep says as of Thursday, Prime Now has expanded into Brooklyn Heights, Downtown Brooklyn, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Park Slope and Prospect Heights in Brooklyn. Currently, two-hour shipping is available in those areas, but not one-hour shipping.

Amazon made its Prime Now one-hour delivery service available in all of Manhattan last week, a company representative said.

This is a a big expansion from its initial service launched in December, which was confined to one zip code in New York City.

Prime subscribers can get two-hour deliveries for free from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m., and one-hour deliveries for $7.99 for products like paper towels, shampoo, books, toys and batteries, according to the company. Customers can purchase these products through a dedicated app.

Initially, the service was available only in the 10001 zip code, near Penn Station and an office on 7 W. 34th St. that Amazon recently leased. The expansion of Prime Now in Manhattan comes after Amazon started offering grocery deliveries via Amazon Fresh in Brooklyn in October.

Amazon's one-hour delivery service may vie with Kozmo, a dot-com era service that has vowed to return, along with Instacart and Google's Shopping Express, which offers service in New York and Los Angeles.

Amazon plans to offer Prime Now into other cities in the near future, but a Amazon rep declined to identify which New York City boroughs might receive Prime Now service next.
