U.S. Marines from the 3rd Marine Expeditionary force, stationed in Okinawa, Japan, participated in military exercises with their South Korean counterparts in Pyeongchang-gun, South Korea. The exercises, which take place in temperatures reaching as low as -4 degrees Fahrenheit, include skiing drills and as shirtless cold-weather endurance tests.

Tensions have been high on the Korean peninsula after North Korea’s most recent nuclear test earlier this month further alienated the already isolated country, and put the South Korean military on higher alert.
