Stormy weather didn't stop Kentucky Derby winner American Pharoah from crossing the muddy finish line first at the Preakness Stakes in Baltimore on Saturday.

The Preakness favorite now has a chance at a Triple Crown at the Belmont Stakes in New York on June 6. The last Triple Crown winner was Affirmed in 1978.

American Pharoah was seven lengths ahead as he crossed the finish line in 1:58:46 amid pouring rain, beating out second-place Tale of Verve. Divining Rod took third, Dortmund fourth. Watch the race, below.

Jockey Victor Espinoza, who rode American Pharoah at the Pimlico Race Course, has won the Preakness and Derby twice before, atop California Chrome last year and aboard War Emblem in 2002.

"I always told everybody American Pharoah would show up today," a drenched Ahmed Zayat, the 3-year-old colt's owner, told The Associated Press. "Indeed he did. He is the real deal."
