Language barriers are falling down one app at a time.
If you're running Android 6.0 Marshmallow on your device, you can now translate text directly within apps without the trouble of switching between apps.

First, download the Translate app; you won't have to open it for the feature to work. When you're in an app like TripAdvisor, just highlight the text you want to translate. Next to the Cut and Copy options in your floating toolbar, you can now select Translate. The translation will appear in a pop-up right in the app.
You can translate 90 languages, and the feature is available in apps such as TripAdvisor, LinkedIn and WhatsApp. More than 500 million people translate over 100 billion words a day on Google Translate, according to the company.
Earlier this year, Google Translate updated its Translate app with the ability to translate two languages at once, allowing two people to have a conversation in their own languages. In the update, it also added a feature called Word Lens, which uses the phone's camera to translate text in signs and posters.
