Researchers from the Advanced Institute of Industrial Technology in Tokyo have developed a car seat that can recognize a person when they sit in it. Using a series of 360 sensors to measure how much pressure people place on the seat, a personalized profile can be generated for the driver of a vehicle. This can then be used as an anti-theft device, identifying the car's owner when they sit down but not allowing others to drive away with the vehicle.
