[img src="" caption="" credit="" alt=""]AOL confirms that the mobile gaming space is indeed heating up. The company is putting its acquisition of mobile advertising network, Third Screen Media, to good use by launching a free, ad-supported mobile gaming network. Similar to casual, web-based games on your computer, the new mobile games will be provided through a web games channel, with no downloads required. Powered by Cellufun, it looks like most of the games, including Call of the Pharaoh, Space Wars, and Ice Fishing, are also social.
Cellufun has established itself as a mobile game provider, and will now be able to further push its content to a larger audience through this deal with AOL. As the mobile portal approach is rather important for AOL (and most other larger networks pushing mobile content and ads), Cellufun and mobile advertising through AOL's Third Screen Media should get fairly easy access to the mobile crowd.
