Verizon has selected AOL's advertising service, Platform-A, to handle both its mobile and web advertising. While the financial details of the deal were not disclosed, this is an exclusive deal for Verizon's web properties, and a majority deal for Verizon's mobile advertising business, in terms of guaranteed placement for ads within the Verizon network. Other sales partners selling ads for Verizon properties will be on a blind-network basis.
Specifically, AOL's Third Screen Media will be used for Verizon's mobile advertising, which will include targeted ads based on geographic, demographic, and content, along with display and sponsored ads as well. Verizon has been increasing its focus on the mobile media sector as well, giving AOL and those brands that would like to delve into mobile advertising a good amount of room to work with. VCast Mobile and direct interaction and consumption of media through Verizon's mobile network is a sensible arena for mobile advertising, so there could be a great deal of promise for AOL and Verizon towards that end.
