Super Smash Bros.' biggest annual tournament, Apex 2015, already earned its nickname in the media as "The Tournament That Almost Wasn't." More than 2,000 players faced losing their original venue -- the Empire Clarion hotel in Secaucus, New Jersey -- due to code violations discovered by the fire marshal on the first day of a three-day event in late January.

Mashable's video team followed along as the tournament was bailed out financially by Twitch, transported to a new venue and reassembled by an army of tournament organizers and volunteers in a matter of hours. Professional players and APEX organizers shared what it took to keep the grassroots tournament alive, and move thousands of players and their setups to a brand new venue.
