Apple has adjusted minimum prices in the App Store in several countries to account for changes in value-added tax (VAT) and currency exchange rates.

The company alerted developers on Wednesday that changes were arriving for the European Union, the UK, Canada, Norway, Iceland and Russia.

The minimum app price is now $1.19 in Canada, £0.79 in the UK and €0.99 in the EU, according to Apple Insider. Prices are expected to increase in Norway, but decrease in Iceland.

The European changes are taking place because of legislation that went into effect on Jan. 1, which increased the VAT on digital goods, including apps, ebooks and MP3s by 6.5% in most European countries.

The specific pricing change made in Russia is unclear at this time, although Apple Insider reported that the ruble's instability did cause Apple to suspend sales of Mac hardware for six days last month.

As The Verge pointed out, these kind of pricing changes are not new. Apple previously adjusted the minimum pricing tiers in various countries in 2014 and in 2011.
