Apple: 74% of Devices Running iOS 7

Apple is beating Android phones in at least one area: getting users to update to the latest operating system.

Nearly three quarters (74%) of Apple's mobile devices are now running iOS 7, the operating system it introduced in mid-September, according to an updated chart published on Apple's developer support center page. The data is based on devices connecting to Apple's App Store.

Android, on the other hand, suffers from much worse device fragmentation. Just 1.1% of Android devices are currently running Kit Kat, the latest operating system, which is only available on a limited number of devices. By comparison, Gingerbread, a operating system that is three years old, is running on 24.1% of devices.

While most users are now on iOS 7, not everyone is in love with it. The operating system was a drastic change from previous versions and has received a fair number of user complaints since it was released.
