Apple Holds 68 Percent of the Tablet Market

According to IDC's latest report, Apple's iPad holds 68 percent of the tablet market after a stellar second quarter.

Total worldwide tablet shipments for Q2 2012 were 25 million units, representing a 66.2% year-over-year growth. Apple shipped 17 million iPads during the quarter, up from 11.8 million units in 1Q12. Samsung took the second place with 2.4 million units shipped, up from 1.1 million units a year ago.

Windows 8 Reaches RTM phase

Windows 8 has been released to manufacturing, meaning the OS is essentially finalized and ready to be incorporated into products. Developers will be able to download the final build of Windows 8 on Aug. 15.

Apple to File for Sanctions After Samsung's Evidence Leak

Apple's legal team plans to file an emergency motion for sanctions after Samsung released excluded evidence from the two companies' patent trial to the media.

The documents show that Samsung's F700 phone pre-dates the iPhone by a couple of months, as well as Apple's early designs of a touch-screen phone inspired by Sony.
