Apple Underscores iPad 2's Educational Benefits in New Ad [VIDEO]

Just in time for the new school year, Apple has rolled out an ad for the iPad 2, giving consumers another reason to buy the device: to help learn something new.

The TV spot, which broke Wednesday night and was created by longtime agency TBWA\Media Arts Lab, showcases iPad apps that let you learn more about anatomy, astronomy, chess and, perhaps in a nod to Apple's now former CEO, calligraphy. Like other recent iPad 2 ads, the spot features a voiceover from actor Peter Coyote and warm piano-tinkling background music.

Apple's claim that the iPad is an educational device has some support. Many public schools are using iPads now and Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, began supplying iPads to new students last fall.
