The iPad previously had camera functionality and a photo library, but the addition of iPhoto brings a new level of creative image editing and organizing options that Mac owners have grown accustomed to.
The updated iWork apps -- Pages, Numbers and Keynote -- are all available today to for $9.99 apiece in the App Store. Garageband is $4.99, and all are updated versions are free for people who already own the apps. iPhoto goes for $4.99 as well, and is also available for iPhone.
Pages allows users to design flyers and other text-and-image based documents. Numbers helps create data visualizations, and Keynote is equivalent to the presentation slideshow manager PowerPoint.
Garageband -- beloved by casual musicians for its simple and intuitive recording, editing and mixing capabilities -- now allows users to jam with one another using the program on separate devices, which is pretty cool. Apple also introduced new iCloud features for Garageband.
Apps for Apple products made by the company and outside developers alike have become a massive hit since Apple's mobile devices opened up the marketplace. The company recently announced that customers have collectively downloaded a whopping 25 billion apps from the App Store -- enough for every single person in the world to own three apiece.
