Apple announced on Thursday that a new Retina iMac will soon be available.

Coming two years after Apple’s last iMac refresh, the Retina iMac features a jaw-dropping resolution of 5120 x 2880 -- an even higher resolution than 4K. In fact, it's 5K. That's right.

The iMac with Retina is only 5mm at its thinnest point, keeping the super-slim profile.

Apple is slowly but surely moving all of its products into the Retina age. In 2010, the tech giant released its first “Retina” display on the iPhone 4. In the summer 2012, the 15-inch MacBook Pro was updated with a retina display. A retina 13-inch MacBook Pro soon followed.

Apple says it is the fastest iMac ever, with a quad-core Intel 3.5Ghz i5 processor, upgradable to quad-core i7.

The iMac with Retina display start shipping on Thursday and starts at $2,499.99.
