Apple's iOS 8.3 beta, previewed here last month, has finally been released into the wild.

The mobile operating system update, targeting iPhones and iPads, delivers a new set of diverse emojis in addition to several other fun surprises. Among them, on the emoji front, is an updated menu that makes it easier to quickly scroll through the 300 new emoji options.

Upon testing some of the new emoji, we found that they don't exactly translate well when sent to someone on iOS 8.2. For example, sending a granny emoji with tan skin from iOS 8.3 results in a standard pink emoji granny face and an alien emoji. The same thing happened when we tried darker-skinned versions of the baby and nose emoji.

Some Twitter users are already expressing their annoyance over the issue:

Wtf if your phone isn't updated the black person emoji is a alien— fäîth (@GhanaianQueenn) April 8, 2015

So if alien in a box pop up when using a " black person " emoji is Apple trying come for us? are they trying to say we look like aliens?!— ChasityKnight(@ChassiNyaisha) April 8, 2015

Hell no this girl just used the black girl emoji but I can't see it and the little thing look like a alien instead of just a box ... Smh— AprilsFinest 04/16 (@ShauntiSimmons) April 8, 2015

In addition, Apple's update includes a number of fixes addressing intermittent Wi-Fi disconnect issues, Bluetooth speaker playback problems, and orientation and rotation issues. The update also adds refreshes related to CarPlay, iCloud and Siri (which can now take dictation in Arabic and Hebrew).

A full list of the updates included in iOS 8.3 can be found on Apple's website.
