Apple used to be mysterious, hidden away in Cupertino, California. Soon enough, that's changing: anyone will be able to get a front row seat to witness the capitalist glory of the world's largest technology corporation.

Apple is planning to build a dedicated visitor center, including an outdoor cafe, retail spot and, the coup de grace, a "rooftop observation deck" to look out across the street at the wonder that is Apple's sprawling spaceship of a campus, currently under construction.

The plan for a visitor center was first spotted this week by the Silicon Valley Business Journal in a construction filing with the city of Cupertino, where Apple is headquartered. Reps for Apple did not immediately respond to our request for comment.

The goal, as the company explains in typically technical terms, is to "create an easily approachable and intuitive interface with the public" and "give visitors of Apple Campus 2 the opportunity to see the Main Building from the rooftop observation deck."

The current Apple headquarters has a gift shop available to the public.

Apple's new multi-billion dollar circular campus was brainstormed under late CEO Steve Jobs and is expected to be completed by the end of 2016. It is just one of several massive new or planned campuses from today's most buzzed about tech companies: Uber, Facebook and Google.

Google, like Apple, has built a "beta" version of a visitor center at its campus in Mountain View, California, which looks like a cross between a museum and a playground.

Technology companies increasingly control the world. At least we get to watch.
