Fashion trends come and go, but the Chinese have long kept to the tradition of being decked out in red during Chinese New Year.

With the lunar new year just weeks ago, Apple is ready for the Year of the Monkey. It's releasing its Apple Watch Sport model in two new finishes -- yellow gold aluminium and silver aluminium -- and is pairing them with bold red straps, for good luck. Both styles will be available in 38mm and 42mm watch sizes.

These special editions will only be available between January 15 and February 22, in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia.

Naturally, this is perfect for those looking to add more red to their Chinese New Year OOTDs.

Traditionally, red is an auspicious colour believed to help ward off evil spirits and bad fortune. Plus, it looks pretty sharp.

Apple is taking pre-orders for the Chinese New Year watches on each of the listed country websites, and are priced similar to the original Apple Watch Sport, starting at S$518 ($363) for the 38mm and S$598 ($419) for the 42mm version.
