Apple began its campaign of smartwatch hype in China on the cover of Vogue China late last year -- and now the company has shifted its focus to Australia.

The April issue of Elle Australia is the first magazine in the country to get access to the device. It features a full fashion spread with the Apple Watch in the spotlight.

The spread, titled "How to Style the Apple Watch," features several women presented in high fashion garb, with Apple's wearable as a focal point. Curiously, though, the designer garments remain unnamed.

Much of the report delves into how the device can be worn in various settings and with a variety of style choices, which is new ground for fashion magazines: teaching people how to interact with technology. According to Elle, the entire fashion shoot was conducted "under high security," although it's unclear whether they're referring to Apple's security or its own.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the spread is the fact that it most prominently highlights the Apple Watch Edition, the most expensive version of the device, a move that would seem to go against some of the post-launch chatter that the pricey device (up to $17,000) might just be a showpiece primarily designed to attract interest in the cheaper models.

Also featured in the spread is the Apple Watch in "space black" stainless steel, the most expensive version of the device ($1,100) before you get to the gold version.

Apple's wearable is set to debut in Australia on April 24, at the same time as the other eight launch countries, including the U.S., Canada, the UK, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong and Japan.
