If you walk past one of a few key Apple stores on Tuesday, you might notice a change in its minimal white logo.
The company continued its tradition of turning its store's logos red in recognition of World AIDS Day on Dec. 1. An estimated 35 million people worldwide are living with HIV, the viral infection that can lead to AIDS, according to the World Health Organization.
About 100 stores worldwide are getting the red treatment for one day to promote awareness, including stores in Sydney, Beijing, Tokyo, Berlin, London, Istanbul, Rio de Janeiro, New York and Los Angeles.
Apple established its red logo campaign five years ago, coinciding with the (RED) initiative dedicated to fighting for an AIDS-free generation.
Apple is known to support the (RED) movement with its line of (PRODUCT)RED accessories, which are currently the centerpiece of the company's website. Products include the Apple Watch, Beats by Dre headphones, iPhone 6S and 6S Plus silicone cases and more.
It also quietly launched iPhone 6S and 6S Plus leather cases just in time for the global event. So far, (RED), started in 2006 by Bono and Bobby Shriver, has raised more than $320 million for the Global Fund, and Apple alone raised more than $100 million of that amount to fund education and medical care to those affected.
The Apple App Store and (RED) are also teaming up with developer Supercell. Every time you buy (RED) packs for Supercell games, 100% of the proceeds go to the Global Fund. Snag a (Pile of Gems)RED pack in Clash of Clans, a (Pile of Diamonds)RED pack in Boom Beach and a (Bag of Diamonds)RED pack in Hay Day. The packs are available as in-app purchases until Dec. 4 at 8 a.m. PT (11 a.m. ET).
