Surfing usually brings to mind images of sun, sand, and tropical waters. But thrill-seekers have set out to redefine the traditionally warm-weather sport.

Daredevils travel to icy beaches to hang ten on subzero waves. Destinations like Iceland and Norway have become a winter tourist destination for those who have dreamed of surfing in the Arctic Circle.

In Norway, surfers from around the world head to Unstad beach on Lofoten to catch the big waves. The surfers usually get to the beach midday and continue surfing until the sun sets.
