Ariana Grande launched her second fragrance over the weekend, and the scent has a surprising twist. While Grande's first fragrance, Ari, showed spot-on consistency with her brand personality --using words like "playful," "confident," "sexy" and "luscious" to describe the feminine notes — her latest perfume ventures into new territory.

The new fragrance, called "Frankie" after Ariana's also-famous older brother, is "gender-inclusive" and "meant to be worn by all," Frankie Grande said. Buyers can choose between pink and metallic versions of the bottle and are encouraged to make selections regardless of gender color conventions.

The perfume is based off a melange of notes including: spicy pink pepper, fruity pear and apricot, floral orchid, musky cedar and — in true Ariana fashion — sweet sugar crystals. Its sweet and fruity flavors have a musky edge.
Gender-neutral fragrances are really nothing new, though. Unisex fragrances have been available for some time, with big names like Prada and Tom Ford shepherding the trend into the mass market.
