If you're wondering how Ariana Grande managed to beat Taylor Swift to take home the American Music Award for Favorite Female Artist, the answer is her very cool grandma.

Grande was up against Swift and Meghan Trainor, but her nonna had zero interest in the competitors and consulted Ari about how one casts a vote for the American Music Awards.

"I think I owe a lot of this to my nonna, who made sure to remind me that she voted. She goes," Grande exlained while she accepted the award. "'I went on the computer, Ariana. I voted. So I think you'll win.'"

Her diligence was rewarded, and Grande's grandma, who attended the ceremony with the "Focus" singer, got to see her girl take home the award.

After the ceremony, Nonna Grande soaked up the spotlight.

Grande also performed her latest single, "Focus." Unfortunately, her grandma wasn't on stage to help out.
