LOS ANGELES -- When "#favnashvid" was trending on Twitter earlier this week -- a tribute to Vine star Nash Grier -- Modern Family's Ariel Winter was not amused.

The actress responded sarcastically to the hashtag on Twitter by referencing a video from 2014 in which Grier yelled a homophobic slur.

#FavNashVid that one time when he was just super homophobic and ignorant? #whydoyouhavefans— Ariel Winter (@arielwinter1) January 10, 2016

Grier, who is 18, has amassed 12.4 million followers on Vine, 5 million followers on Twitter, more than 8 million followers on Instagram and about 4.5 million subscribers on YouTube. Though the Vine star apologized back when the video was posted -- and has since worked to change his image -- Winter felt that wasn't enough. She further elaborated her frustrations in an Instagram post.

"Yes, people make mistakes. We are all human," she wrote. "However, a mistake is generally something you make once. Your homophobic video that you made when you were 14 was not the only time you spouted homophobic slurs. Your twitter was full of them before you posted the video AND after! With access to the internet, how could you be so ignorant to think that the word you used was not excessively harmful?"

Grier noticed the backlash on Monday and reached out to Winter:

. @arielwinter1 sorry, I just saw this! I would LOVE to talk you & explain why your opinion about others opinions are far from reality. DMs?— Nash Grier (@Nashgrier) January 11, 2016

But Winter was clearly over it. She sent him back a kiss emoji with a simple message: "lol I'm good."

The teen world was clearly divided over who to side with after this Twitter beef.

Many took up the hashtag "#teamariel," and hating on Grier.

Meanwhile, Grier's superfans told Winter to back off.

@arielwinter1 @Nashgrier you see you are "scared" to find that you were wrong and be a childish ridiculous person that judges.— 22 (@maximendess) January 11, 2016
