Summer, for many people, is a time of escape. Escaping school, vacationing to escape routine, turning on the AC to escape the heat, and, of course, escaping into a good book.

To help with your summer escapism, this month our social book club MashableReads is reading Ernest Cline's latest novel Armada.

Armada tells the story of video game addict Zack Lightman who unwittingly finds himself in an alien invasion. Fortunately, Lightman soon discovers that his favorite video games and science fiction stories have all been created as a survival guide to get through the interstellar attack.

Funny, harrowing, and full of the nerdy charm that made Cline's first novel Ready Player One a cult classic, Armada is your must-read summer blockbuster novel.

We want to chat about Armada with you! Join us on July 23 at 5:30 PM ET as we welcome Cline to Mashable HQ to discuss Armada, sci-fi, and saving the world via video games. Make sure to RSVP here to join the conversation! You can also discuss Armada online on Twitter with @mashreads and by using the hashtag #MashReads, on our MashableReads Facebook page and in the MashableReads Goodreads group.

We're also making this an immersive book club experience. In Armada, Zack uses video games as a way to escape from his problems. For this month's MashableReads social challenge, show us a pic on Instagram of how you like to escape from reality. Your pic can be anything from your favorite hobby to your favorite relaxation spot.
