The India portal asklaila, was successful in its Series B fundraising. The new round of capital was secured from Lightspeed Venture Partners, SVB India Capital Partners and existing investor Matrix Partners India. The company plans to use the capital to expand its service across the country.

More than just a search engine, asklaila also allows its users to review local services and businesses. Additionally, the site features tools such as proximity search and SMS. Asklaila is sort of like a India version of Yelp, the popular local reviews site that is gaining popularity in the US. As one of the fastest growing countries in the world economically, launching services that have proven successful elsewhere is a sound strategy.
