AT&T to Blanket 300 Million Users With LTE Before 2015

AT&T plans to expand its 4G LTE network coverage to 300 million people by the end of 2014, the company has announced.

To support the expansion of its LTE network, AT&T says it has acquired spectrum through more than 40 deals this year. Much of that is the 2.3GHz WCS spectrum, which the FCC approved for use with LTE networks in October.

AT&T also plans to improve network quality by deploying small cells, macro cells, and distributed antenna systems, which will be especially beneficial for the inhabitants of large cities.

Furthermore, AT&T plans to have fiber deployed at 1 million additional business customer locations by the end of 2015, and wired IP broadband network is expected to expand to 75% of customer locations in AT&T's wireline service area by that time.
