The Attack on Spamhaus And Other News You Need to Know

Welcome to this morning's edition of "First To Know," a series in which we keep you in the know on what's happening in the digital world.

Today, we're looking at three particularly interesting stories. A distributed denial of service attack targeting anti-spam outfit Spamhaus has been hitting the servers there since March 19, and disrupting global internet traffic along with it. Divers near Egypt were arrested Wednesday as they tried to cut one of the undersea cables that carries the region’s Internet traffic. And, an IDC survey of a representative sample of Facebook users found those of them with smartphones check the social network 14 times a day.
