President Barack Obama may not think weed is more dangerous than alcohol, but his possible new attorney general does.

“I certainly don’t hold that view," Loretta Lynch, the nominee to replace Attorney General Eric Holder, said during her confirmation hearing on Wednesday, moving away from the president's line of thought.

Her comment came after a question from Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, who read a few of Obama's remarks on marijuana from a 2014 New Yorker interview with the president. During that interview, the president said marijuana is less dangerous than alcohol “in terms of its impact on the individual consumer. It’s not something I encourage, and I’ve told my daughters I think it’s a bad idea, a waste of time, not very healthy.”

Lynch also said she does not support the legalization of marijuana.

“I can tell you that not only do I not support the legalization of marijuana, it is not the position of the Department of Justice currently...nor will it be the position should I be confirmed," Lynch said.
