A pub in Sydney, Australia is behind the most expensive pie in the world.

The Lord Dudley Hotel in Paddington has cooked up a feast worthy of only a king. The pie -- worth a cool A$12,000 -- is made from two different premium beef cuts from the acclaimed David Blackmore, two Western Australian rock lobsters and rare Winter Black truffles. It is then coated with 23 carat German gold leaf and drenched in two bottles of Penfolds Grange Reserve.

It is so opulent, it has scored a spot in the recordsetter's record books.

Executive chef Paul Medcalf, who created the pie in partnership with deal buying site Groupon, said it was a twist on the Australian classic "surf and turf" -- where meat and seafood are served in the same dish -- and took three weeks to develop. He has named it the #PoshPie and it is up for sale on Groupon.

"My approach was to take the classic surf and turf concept and replicate it into a pie using the best quality ingredients I could get my hands on. After weeks of tinkering away in the kitchen I think the #PoshPie is well deserving of its record breaking title," Medcalf said in a statement.
