Footage has surfaced of a man hitching a ride with a taxi, getting dragged on his stomach while holding onto the boot of the car across the Sydney suburb of Redfern.
The video shows the man taking a ride, being pulled along the street for some time, while pedestrians look on, with some even cheering. According to Brown Cardigan, the video was originally posted by Instagram user @jamescarthew. The Instagram account is now set to private, but the Tumblr account linked in the account's bio shows unedited footage of the same event.
Chief Inspector Phil Brooks, of NSW Traffic and Highway Patrol, told the media Tuesday police were searching for the man, who could face significant fines and penalties. "This young man is skylarking," he said. "This is dangerous and reckless behaviour, we're certainly encouraging anyone that knows this young man, or even his family, to please bring him into a police station."
