This curious Melbourne marsupial must have been feeling a bit stressed — because he decided to unwind by jumping into one family's backyard swimming pool.

Eltham North resident Amy Garraway was sound asleep, along with the rest of her family, when a sound from their backyard startled her awake. "We were asleep -- it was 5.03 a.m. when we first heard some splashing. Usually it's ducks so we don't think too much of it," Amy told Daily Mail Australia. "When the splashing kept happening and the dog started barking we went out there in our nighties, and there was a kangaroo swimming in our pool."

The Garraways set about rescuing the kangaroo, who was unable to climb out of the pool on his own.

After 45 minutes, the family managed to successfully pull the confused marsupial to safety on dry land. The kangaroo was so worn out from the experience that he remained in the Garraways' backyard for three more hours before hopping along on his merry way.

Clearly, he just needed a bit of R&R before he went back to the exhausting business of being a kangaroo.
