What Australians talked about most on Facebook in 2015

Beneath the cute animal pictures and occasional Russian dash cam videos that pop up on news feeds, Facebook users in Australia are also interested in onion eating prime ministers, same-sex marriage and Mars.

To explore your Australian curiosity a little bit more, Facebook has compiled a list of the most-discussed topics and most-shared check-ins in its 2015 year in review.

Check out the list below, where you may find a few surprises. No Russian dash cams though.

Australian Check-ins

Turns out Aussies love a bit of gambling and some sport (who would have thought?), which is why Melbourne's Crown Casino and the Melbourne Cricket Ground is on top of Facebook's check-ins list for 2015, knocking out Darling Harbour -- which was 2014's winner.
