Starbucks doesn't have to be just a place to get a morning latte, it can also be your nagging mother-in-law.
The coffee chain recently launched a #RaceTogether campaign, encouraging baristas to engage in conversations with customers about race by writing "Race Together" on cups.
look starbucks if i dont want to talk about race relations with my dad i darn sure dont want to talk about it with my barista.— Tracy Clayton (@brokeymcpoverty) March 17, 2015
I have a ton of respect for the efforts Starbucks has made re diversity. But when u have 40% minority staff this is an unfair burden on them— Ijeoma Oluo (@IjeomaOluo) March 17, 2015
Instead of names, Starbucks baristas will now be writing think pieces on the side of to-go cups.— Anne T. Donahue (@annetdonahue) March 17, 2015
Of course, most customers are not looking forward to getting in a heated debate before they have their caffeine fix -- but there's no reason why Starbucks should stop there.
There are tons of other uncomfortable conversations your local barista is, no doubt, dying to have with you.
