Hi, haters. Credit: Johnny Nunez/WireImage/Getty Images

Ayesha Curry, wife of Warriors point guard and basketball god Steph Curry, tweeted something.

Classic mistake.

Before we go on, let's note three favored pastimes of large segments of the Twitter user base: Twisting words, summoning righteous indignation at the drop of a pin, and belaboring pointless debates.

Ayesha Curry managed to send all three of these unfortunate herd-behavior proclivities into overdrive with one seemingly innocuous tweet on Saturday night. Here it is -- are you ready?

Everyone's into barely wearing clothes these days huh? Not my style. I like to keep the good stuff covered up for the one who matters— Ayesha Curry (@ayeshacurry) December 6, 2015

Eighteen hours later: 47,000 retweets, 61,000 likes and one asinine pseudo-debate about female beauty standards that made "Ayesha Curry" Twitter's top trending topic in the United States for a good chunk of Sunday.

Curry's tweet caused a -- shall we say -- wide variety of opinionated reactions. Here's a sampling.

Sounds as if Ayesha Curry thinks her body/other women's bodies are like consumer goods marketed exclusively for use by men, or something.— felicia jean (@felicianista) December 6, 2015

Great good for you. A lot of people matter to me. And I plan on meeting a lot more who matter to me. ;) Don't shame others. @ayeshacurry— Kiran (⌐■_■) (@KiranOpal) December 6, 2015

If Ayesha Curry offended you in any form or fashion you a hoe & if you disagree you probably a hoe too pic.twitter.com/VjtZqJ8DZt— PAPI COREY ON AIR (@Papi_Corey) December 6, 2015

Frightening how @ayeshacurry's comments inspired so many men to resort to being disrespectful + threatening towards women who didn't agree.— Johnetta Elzie (@Nettaaaaaaaa) December 6, 2015

I see nothing wrong with what Ayesha curry said....*stares at the offended tho* pic.twitter.com/EcE3rq6pov— Harry Styles AF (@ImperfectGemini) December 6, 2015

don't be mad at ayesha curry because she got a wedding ring and you can't even get ketchup with your burger.— Sean. (@Seantaneous) December 6, 2015

Ayesha Curry posted that tweet, switched off her phone and slept in her million dollar mansion. You've been online ranting for 5 hours.— JayJChillin (@JayJazzi) December 6, 2015

Curry later added a little more context to her initial tweet -- and plea for peaceful mentions.

Just looking at the latest fashion trends. I'll take classy over trendy any day of the week. #saturdaynightinsight— Ayesha Curry (@ayeshacurry) December 6, 2015

and all I'm doing is sitting here reading a style weekly. You guys definitely entertain me that's for sure.— Ayesha Curry (@ayeshacurry) December 6, 2015

Regardless of if you like my "style of clothes" or not (which I don't care) please do not tear women down and degrade them... Not cool peeps— Ayesha Curry (@ayeshacurry) December 6, 2015

Just another day of elevated discourse on Twitter, the global town square.

Meanwhile, the defending-champion Warriors entered Sunday's road game against the Brooklyn Nets with a record of 21-0, the best start to a season in league history.
