Babelgum Appoints New CEO

Internet TV service Babelgum is announcing today that it has appointed a new CEO: Valerio Zingarelli. Zingarelli replaces one of the company’s co-founders, Erick Lumer, who will now focus on product development. Zingarelli has spent most of the past ten years at Vodafone, most recently serving as Global Director of Networks and Service Platforms. He was also an independent member of the Board of Directors of Fastweb, where Babelgum co-founder and billionaire Silvio Scaglia was founder.

In addition to Zingarelli’s appointment, Babelgum announced its goals over the next nine to twelve months include increasing content acquisition, a global marketing campaign, and introducing advertising on the service. In our comparison of the various Internet TV offerings, it was a lack of content that made Babelgum less compelling than Joost.
