Baby Giraffe Learning to Walk Will Brighten Your Day

Take a moment to appreciate the circle of life by watching this baby giraffe stand up. It's truly a precious moment, during which we dare you to not say "awwwww" five times.

The calf's mom, Petal, is a 6-year-old endangered Rothschild giraffe at the LEO Zoological Conservation Center and gave birth earlier that morning. Petal's baby wasted no time gettin' up and at 'em after being alive for only 30 minutes.

Petal also wasted no time licking her calf clean -- We're sure when he's a teenager he won't appreciate the viral footage of his first bath, though.

The conservation center in Greenwich, Conn., writes on its YouTube page that Petal was found in Africa and is one of only 670 Rothschilds left in the world. The calf's birth marks the first giraffe born at the facility and possibly the first in Connecticut's history, they write.
