Case in point: this scripted video published on Fast Company shows you how you actually sound when you finally get the courage to talk to your office crush.
"What you think is innocent flirting may come out a little different than intended," the video says.
That's an understatement. In the office-flirtation chamber of horrors, there is the inappropriate compliment ("Hey! Sex hair!"), the aggressive attempt to force intimacy ("Are you on Facebook? Friend me! Friend me! Friend me!); the replacement of a cute giggle with braying, trying-too-hard-laughter; and the weird obsession with giving a play-by-play on your crush's choice of food and drink ("You're drinking seltzer too? We're twinsies!")
Consider this a cautionary tale so you don't get a reputation as that creepy co-worker or — worse — get written up with your office's human resources department. Flirt wisely out there, friends.
