Baidu, the top search engine in China (far surpassing Google and Yahoo in traffic figures), has announced the hiring of a new COO. The appointee, Peng Ye, moves over to Baidu from a national general management position for Apple China.
Ye has had a lengthy history in the technology industry, serving roles for companies like SatCom AG, Motorola, and Nortel. His list of educational accreditations is a fairly long one as well. He spent time in the UK at the University of Ulster, where he attained a Ph. D in Information and Software Engineering. He also received an EMBA from China Europe International Business School, as well as the title of Master of Information System Engineering from China’s National University of Defense Technology.
