An Indian fan of US President Barack Obama just took her devotion to the next level, by changing her last name to Obama. Archana Ozah, a resident of the eastern Indian city of Guwahati, took out a newspaper advertisement announcing her decision to apply for a new name.

Ozah, has already been praying to a portrait of Obama by lighting an incense stick in front of it, in addition to organising events celebrating him in the city. On Wednesday, she took out an advertisement declaring her intention to change her name by applying for a court affidavit on Mar. 3.

The application still has to give the official approval from the city's magistrate. However Archana, who's in her early 30s, has said that the move is part of her dream "of being a part of Obama."

“I have not been able to live with Obama, but I will die an Obama," she said.

This isn't the first instance of Obama fan worship in India. There are several restaurants and food carts, which are either named after Obama or feature his photographs. A 2010 Bollywood satire film called Phas Gaye Re Obama showed an Indian gangster becoming Obama's fan after hearing his "Yes, we can" speech, and plotting a kidnapping to get enough money to migrate to the US.
