Inside this week's hugely important 'Bates Motel' episode

"My son isn't normal. There's something wrong with him."

These are words Norma Bates (Vera Farmiga) never could have imagined herself saying aloud, even though the realization that young Norman has darkness inside of him is something with which she's long wrestled.

She finally admitted it to someone other than herself, though, in Monday's episode of Bates Motel, titled "Norma Louise," an hour that saw Farmiga showcase some of her best work of the series.

Below, executive producer Kerry Ehrin breaks down a scene that featured a "huge turning point" for Norma, explains some of the script choices, and opens up about surprising film that inspired some of the action.
