Man threatens to set himself on fire outside BBC's London office

LONDON -- A man who poured petrol on himself and reportedly threatened to set himself on fire outside the BBC's central London office.

BBC staff posted photos and updates to Twitter about the incident, which happened Wednesday morning at New Broadcasting House in Portland Place. No one was injured, and the man has been arrested.

Security guards restrained the man before police arrived and arrested the 36-year-old, firefighters also came to the scene.

In a statement, Metropolitan Police said two bags were examined at the location, but nothing suspicious was found. The building was not evacuated.

Police were to remain at the scene and some of the cordons are still in place in front of the building.
