LONDON -- John Humphrys is a well-known voice for many Brits waking up to the Radio 4 Today show, but he's never been heard quite like this before.

After a discussion on the lack of diversity at the Brit Awards, something both grime artist Stormzy and Harley Sylvester from Rizzle Kicks have spoken out on, the veteran presenter listened to Skepta's "That's Not Me" and had a go at rapping.

“And we is now going to have Thought For De Day done in that way,” he ventured, probably wanting to hold on to that day job.

Twitter was suitably baffled.

John Humphrys did a rap on #r4today this morning. I was dozing at the time, but refused to go back to sleep in case of unquiet dreams.— Some Melodious Plot (@LostCertainties) February 12, 2016

If there was a shark left for John Humphrys to jump he would have cleared it by a mile with this morning's rap. @BBCr4today— Pete Bell (@RealPeteBell) February 12, 2016

Did I just hear John Humphreys attempting some grime rap on the Today programme?! #ohdear— Finbarr Lucas (@finbarrlucas) February 12, 2016

It's very early but I pretty sure I just heard John Humphrys rap to grime on @BBCr4today #fireinthebooth— Ryan Gage (@RyanGage) February 12, 2016

It's not the first time Humphrys has ventured into this territory. "The Humph" offered the line "answer the question Prime Minister" to a collaboration with 1Xtra's Charlie Sloth back in 2014.
