Australia's darling of the silver screen, Carrie Bickmore, gave a moving acceptance speech at the Logie Awards, drawing attention to brain cancer.

The Project's presenter, who lost her husband to brain cancer in 2010, donned a blue beanie after winning the coveted Gold Logie award -- the highest television award in Australia -- and called on the public to support those suffering from brain cancer or caring for someone who is suffering.

"Everyone thinks it is this rare form of cancer. It is not. It kills more people under 40 than any other cancer. It kills more kids than any other disease. In 2010, my husband, Greg, was one of the unlucky ones," Bickmore told the audience, which included the who's who of Australian television.

"Over 10 years, I watched him suffer multiple seizures a day, lose feeling down one side of his body, have his little three-year-old have to push him around in a wheelchair because he couldn't walk anymore."

At the event in Melbourne on Sunday night, she encouraged morning show hosts to put a beanie on their heads and the stars obliged on Monday morning, with multiple Australian TV personalities wearing a beanie for brain cancer.

Bickmore's speech caused the hastag #beaniesforbraincancer to trend, as people from all across the country got behind the cause.
