Beats to Release Its Own Smartphone [REPORT]

We may soon see a very different product from HTC and Beats Audio: a smartphone.

While the phone would carry the Beats brand, HTC would manufacture the hardware. There haven't been any suggestions of just what kind of capabilities the phone could have, but you can bet that sound quality tops the list of priorities. The project is said to be part Beats's push into bigger territory that includes a Beats television, possibly with Samsung's help.

We've heard a lot about the relationship between HTC and Beats Audio this year. After making a massive investment in the company, HTC started featuring Beats headphones and EQ technology. But it scaled things back when it ditched the bundled hardware. More recently, we heard rumors that HTC might break things off with Beats altogether in an attempt to save a little money. But HTC denied those allegations.
