NBC seems to be striking plenty of deals in the social media space - first with YouTube, and now with Bebo to promote its upcoming high school sports drama, Friday Night Lights. A new "microsite" on Bebo will ask users to upload photos and videos, as well as creating blog entries about their football experiences. The 10 winners will receive scholarships worth $5,000. The Tuesday-night show will also be promoted on the social networks Piczo, hi5, plus other sites like Tickle, Ringo and FastWeb. What's more, 1,000 schools in the top 100 markets will receive branded items including footballs and pom-poms, as well as DVDs of the series pilot.

With Tagworld promoting Snakes on a Plane, Facebook giving away iTunes tracks and YouTube promoting virtually everything under the sun (see the Paris Hilton channel for the latest move), this seems like par for the course.
