It's showtime!

Well, it will be. Winona Ryder confirmed on Late Night Tuesday that there is, in fact, a sequel to Beetlejuice in the works -- news that should please fans who've been waiting for another adventure starring the Ghost with the Most since the original came to theaters in 1988. (The 1989-1991 animated series may or may not count.)

Ryder was initially hesitant to talk Beetlejuice when host Seth Meyers brought up the long-in-development second movie. But she eventually stopped hedging, reasoning that since Tim Burton himself has given recent interviews about the film -- telling IGN last December that the sequel is "closer than ever" -- she was in the clear.

Ryder didn't give any other details about the prospective sequel, though she's indicated before that the second film boasts a script by Dark Shadows' Seth Grahame-Smith that picks up a full 27 years after the original film.
