WFAA, the ABC affiliate station local to the Dallas area, is one that won't be coming online immediately due to Yahoo's pre-existing relationship with KTVT 11, a CBS affiliate in the area.
Belo and Yahoo have worked together on merging their efforts in the past with the Yahoo Newspaper Consortium and Yahoo's HotJobs. The continued relationship will allow the two organizations to share ad revenues on their video content.
We don't expect the partnership to bring runaway success for Belo's first foray online, as the Yahoo news video unit doesn't take advantage of the Web's truly viral aspects seen in more popular video platforms like YouTube. Yahoo news videos can only be emailed or IMed as a suggestion to friends, and cannot be subscribed to as a podcast.
