LONDON -- It's not every day that you get to see Benedict Cumberbatch kicking a giant teddy bear after doing a series of otter impressions.

The star of Black Mass appeared on Friday's episode of The Graham Norton Show with co-star Johnny Depp, and was set the fairly unusual challenge of re-creating a series of otter-based photos. Being the all-round awesome guy and cheerfully versatile actor that he is, Cumberbatch was more than happy to oblige.

The photos started off tricky...

...then swiftly got more and more ridiculous.

Cumberbatch really threw himself into it, though.

Norton and Depp even got involved at one point.

The whole thing ended with Cumberbatch sitting on the lap of giant teddy bear...

...before he decided to turn things around and show his darker side.

"Think I'm a cute otter?" bellowed Cumberatch as he aimed a series of kicks and elbows at the giant stuffed toy.

If there's one thing you can say about The Graham Norton Show, it's that things are never predictable.
