Twitter is growing up.

Difficult as it is to believe, the social network just turned 10. While the company is celebrating with a look back at some of its most powerful moments, we wanted to mark the occasion with a list of our own.

While no list can encompass all of the unforgettably hilarious, poignant, jaw-dropping, trolling and downright wtf moments that have happened on Twitter over the years, we've collected a dozen of our favorites. Keep reading to see our list of the best tweets of all time (in chronological order.)

The one that started it all

While the lore around the first tweet ever is well established, Twitter cofounder Jack Dorsey's inaugural tweet is still a classic.

The first live tweet from space

Though other astronauts had previously sent tweets from space with the help of others, astronaut TJ Creamer was the first to send a tweet from space in real-time.

That time someone accidentally live tweeted the Osama Bin Laden raid

An IT consultant in Abbottabad happened to be awake one night in May 2011 when heard helicopters nearby -- an unusual occurrence for the area. It was so unusual, in fact, he began tweeting about it and received dozens of responses before realizing what he had been hearing was the raid that eventually killed Osama bin Laden.
