The Facebook page Betty White to Host SNL (please?)! launched in December 2009, gathering more than 500,000 fans and a great deal of media attention.
Spotting the opportunity for online buzz, NBC not only agreed to have the White host the show, but released a series of promo videos to tease the appearance to web viewers.
In her most memorable sketch of the night, White appeared in an NPR-themed sketch about baked goods (embedded below).
